The Student Council plays an important role in the life of a high school. It is a vital organization of students dedicated to energizing school spirit and a consultative body that serves to represent student interests. Becoming a member of student council entails making a major commitment as you will be involved in the planning, the cleanup, the construction, and participation in all Student Life events. You need to be open-minded to change and most importantly, prepared to take on the position of a role model and leader. Student Council is about personality, creativity, teamwork, and dedication.

Expectations of a Student Council member are to:

ü  Commit to attending at least one regular meeting a month during school

ü  Commit to attending at least one regular meeting a month after school

ü  Participate in and promote activities

ü  Be in good academic and behavioural standing

Academic and behavioural problems will be reviewed by the administration and student life advisors.

Participation in Student Council is a very demanding job but also extremely rewarding at the same time. You will need to learn how to work with people and make every effort to bring the group together. You may also need to make some personal sacrifices in order to make the commitment necessary, but every sacrifice is well worth the final reward. Most of all, you must have a genuine love for Lester B. Pearson and its student body, and make every possible effort to make it better, happier, and prouder. Make your time at Pearson a memorable one!

v  Level Representatives

v  Member at Large

Members at Large may apply to join at any time throughout the year.

Deadline for applications for level one representative is September 10^th 2010 and Student Council for the following year will be confirmed in May 2011.
